Powers Electric A Type Desert Dawn

When we first saw Powers Electric's guitars during our trip to Taylor, we knew immediately: we have to have them!

Most people will mainly know Andy Powers from his role at Taylor Guitars. In 2014, Andy joined Taylor Guitars as a Master Builder. Since joining Taylor, Andy has focused on refining the designs of Taylor's acoustic guitars. This has led to a range of tone-enhancing innovations, including its V-Class bracing, along with many award-winning models. But what Taylor fans may not know is how deeply Andy's passion is rooted in the world of electric guitars.

In addition to his work at Taylor Guitars, Andy has focused on a new solo project: his own line of electric guitars. Initially, Andy wanted to design an electric guitar that reflected the character and style of Taylor Guitars. However, according to Taylor founder Kurt Listug, this limited the potential he saw in Andy's project. That's why Andy chose to follow his own path, drawing inspiration from his other great passions: cars and surfing. This combination created the first Powers Electric guitar: the A-Type.

This A-Type has an Urban Ash body with a solid flamed maple top. The guitar has a Desert Dawn finish and also has elegant details in the form of a firestripe pickguard and unique buttons made from layers of surfboard resin. The Toploader Hard Tail tailpiece and the steel bridge with ebony saddle, designed by Andy himself, are accompanied by two PF42 single coil pickups with a solid, clear sound.

The guitar comes in a beautiful leather soft case that completes the retro feel of Powers Electric!
