Gibson J45 Standard Goldtop

The J45 is the best-selling acoustic model of Gibson of all time. Nicknamed “The Workhorse” and first introduced in 1942, this iconic acoustic became the cornerstone of Gibson’s round-shoulder dreadnought line. Renowned worldwide for its full, balanced voice, warm bass response and excellent projection, the J45 has evolved over the years while staying true to its original character. The Gibson J45 Standard delivers impressive dynamic range, warm mids and a tight, punchy low end.

The Gibson J45 Standard features a round-shoulder dreadnought body built with solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top. The top is finished with multi-ply binding, while the back features single-ply binding. The mahogany neck has a fast and comfortable SlimTaper profile and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail neck joint for excellent tonal transfer and sustain. The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 20 standard frets and simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The headstock carries the Gibson logo in mother-of-pearl and is equipped with high-quality Grover Rotomatic tuners that work together with the TUSQ nut to provide smooth and reliable tuning stability.

The rosewood belly-up bridge is fitted with a TUSQ saddle and bridge pins, while the teardrop tortoise pickguard and gloss nitrocellulose finish complete the timeless look that has made this model a musical icon for generations.

The J45 Standard comes equipped with an L.R. Baggs VTC under-saddle pickup and preamp system, with discreet volume and tone controls mounted inside the soundhole for easy access while remaining nearly invisible to the audience. Thanks to its natural-sounding electronics, the J45 Standard is ready for studio and stage use straight out of the included hardshell case.
